Where this came from

I started with my own manuscript. I wanted useful feedback while the draft was still rough, and I couldn't find quite what I needed at a price I could afford.

I had notes from around thirty books on writing. I used them to build the tool's instructions, then spent a year trying it on my own pages and adjusting it. The question I kept coming back to was simple: can it show me where something isn't working and explain why?

I wanted help reading my work, with the writing left to me. The feedback made it easier to notice things I'd missed in a familiar draft. When a note made sense, I could try it. When it didn't, I could leave it.

That's still how I use it. I write on a machine without internet, come back to the draft later and use the letter to help decide what needs another pass. Karlove is my way of offering that same process to other writers.
