Your work stays yours

Copyright in your manuscript is yours and stays yours. Sending it here grants me a licence to do one thing, which is to read it in order to produce your editorial letter. That licence ends when you delete the work or close your account.

Nothing you send is published, quoted publicly, shown to another customer, or used as an example without your explicit permission asked for separately at the time.

Your pages are sent to Anthropic's Claude model through the tool I run on my computer. Claude produces the analysis, and I review and edit the letter before sending it. I don't train a model on your work. The privacy page explains how Anthropic handles the text.

I can access your work, as can the services needed to store and process it: Supabase for the database and files in Frankfurt, Vercel for the site, and Anthropic for the analysis. Database access rules restrict other customers from accessing your work.

Files are stored privately and retrieved through short-lived links generated for you.

You can delete a manuscript at any time from your account. That cancels any read in progress on it, removes the stored copy of the text, and queues the file for removal from storage; the letters you have already received stay yours. Deleting a book removes the book, its brief, its reads, its letters and your notes on them. Ask me to remove everything and I will, including the record of the reads.

I keep the exported file on my computer so I can answer later questions about the read. There's no fixed deletion date for this copy. You can ask me to remove it, along with the other information I hold about you.

The database and file storage don't keep scheduled backups, so once something is deleted here it is gone, with no copy left to restore it from. The flip side is that I can't recover something you delete by mistake either. If that changes, this page will say how long backups are kept.

If I stop running the service, I'll tell you in advance and give you time to download your work. Your manuscript won't be sold as part of the business.
